1.2  WORKSHOP:  PROcision Care:  Using Patient Reported Outcomes to Personalize Care Delivery

The focus of this session includes exploration of:

  • The increasing use of standardized, validated questionnaires to gather information directly from patients about their symptoms, functioning, and well-being [ie, patient-reported outcomes (PROs)] as part of routine care
  • Using PROs in clinical practice has demonstrated benefits, including improved patient-clinician communication, enabling problems detection, informing symptom management, and improving outcomes.
  • PROcision Care simply refers to using the PROs information to inform patients' care and management
  • This session will focus on building foundational knowledge about PROs in practice and enhancing nursing capacity to utilize PRO data to guide clinical actions in order to improve outcomes for patients.
  • Case studies will be used to guide learning and discussion.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Understand why the routine use of PROs in ambulatory cancer care is growing
  • Explore the concept of PROcision Care as a route to improving outcomes for the patient
  • Review several clinical case studies, exploring how PRO information can enable PROcision Care
  • Explore the central role cancer nurses play in the delivery of PROcision Care.

2.3  SYMPOSIUM:  Enhancing Cervical Cancer Screening Equity: A Multilayered Approach Integrating Multimedia Intervention,       Community Health Workers, and Empowering Decisions using Decision Aids

  • Decision Aids: Implementing decision aids to empower individuals in making informed choices regarding cervical cancer screening options.

  • Learn from the mistakes and triumphs of an education and training provider working in the field of palliative care


3.4  SYMPOSIUM:  Cancer Prevention Across Europe (PrEvCan), Key Learning Experiences and Impact

The focus of this session is to:

  • Explore the impact of health literacy, public health campaigns and cancer prevention strategies within subgroups across Europe
  • Describe the role of the cancer nurse in reducing the burden of cancer in different subgroups of a population

Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Gain knowledge on cancer prevention literacy and cancer nurses’ roles in health promotion and public health campaigns
  • Improve skills related to reaching out with cancer prevention information among different population sub-groups
