ISNCC Research Grant Opportunity

The International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) is committed to advancing global cancer care through nursing leadership, collaboration, and innovation. Established in 1984, ISNCC strives to reduce the global burden of cancer and enhance the role of nurses in care delivery.

This research grant supports oncology nurses in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to develop and implement projects that generate evidence and improve cancer care practices. Sponsored by the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) the chosen recipient will receive a CAD$5,000 (approximately USD$3,500) to support the project.

This grant empowers nurses to lead impactful research, transforming cancer care in LMICs.

Research/ Evidence-based project topic area

  • Development of Infrastructures in Terms of Policy Making: This includes the creation of policy briefs and other policy-making tools.
  • Development and Updating of Oncology Nursing Care Processes: This involves developing guidelines, generalizable guidelines, service packages, or models of care.
  • Development and Validation of Measurement Instruments: Creating and validating tools to evaluate, assess, or measure related concepts.
  • Cancer Prevention and Early Detection: Developing and implementing effective screening programs for common cancers such as breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer.
  • Palliative Care, End-of-Life Care, and Symptom Management: Given that more than 70% of cancer patients diagnosed in LMICs are in the advanced stages of the disease, there is a critical need for accessible palliative care.
  • Survivorship and Quality of Life: Studying the long-term effects of cancer and its treatment on survivors, including physical, emotional, spiritual, and social impacts. This area also explores interventions to support survivors in LMIC including integrative oncology.
  • Cultural Competence in Cancer Care: Concerning how cultural beliefs and practices influence cancer care and patient outcomes. This includes developing culturally sensitive care models and educational programs for healthcare providers and/or cancer patients.
  • Digital transformation agenda: Evidence-based projects leveraging on digital tools and infrastructure to assist in patient education, treatment optimization, communication, and follow up in cancer care.
  • Patient education materials: Projects focused on patient education resources and materials to promote patient centered care.
  • Nursing workforce in cancer care: Projects focused on curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate related majors, workplace health and safety, nursing training and professional development for oncology nurses.
